Your tasks:

  • Build and maintain the architectural roadmap by defining and planning enabler features
  • in alignment with business priorities.
  • Collect, clarify and document architecturally significant requirements, constraints and
  • quality goals in close cooperation with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Product Management
  • and Solution Architecture).
  • Define the architecture by designing its building-blocks, interfaces and behavior and
  • document your decisions using various architectural views.
  • Communicate the designed structures and decisions to ensure it is well understood by
  • relevant stakeholders and team.
  • Guide the realization of the architecture by reviewing and providing feedback to work
  • products of development teams to ensure their implementation fits intended design.
  • Evaluate the architecture and its realization by assessing its quantitative and qualitative
  • quality characteristics ensuring it fulfills the given quality goals.
  • Lead and guide the software architects in the team.
  • Foster a culture of architectural excellence by mentoring other software architects in
  • their work and conducting knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Ensure that company architectural processes and procedures are well known and
  • understood in all teams.

Your role:

  • Requirements Engineering: Is capable of understanding the impact of stakeholder requirements on the architecture, deriving architecture requirements from them, documenting these in a precise and understandable manner, and managing their lifecycle.
  • Knows state-of-the-art architecture styles (like layered architecture and SOA) and design principles (like OOP) and is capable of applying them to practical problems in such a way that a modular, maintainable and extensible system architecture is created. Knows and possesses the necessary skills to specify complex software architectures using appropriate methods, such as modeling languages (like UML) and interface description languages (e.g., OMG IDL) as well as corresponding tools (e.g., Enterprise Architecture).
  • Is capable of defining important quality attributes and related quality goals for the software system as well as its architecture and can develop suitable strategies for verification and validation, e.g. by applying automated testing methods.
  • Communication skills - The ability to convey information clearly and effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Decision-making ability - The capability to make informed and timely decisions.
  • Strategic thinking - Setting long-term goals and developing strategic plans.
