Release Manager Embedded Linux – Mobile Machinery (m/f/d)

Do you believe in a more automated and robotized future? Do you enjoy working and collaborating with international teams? As a Release Manager, you act as the main conduit between our development teams and stakeholders. You play a key role in the successful delivery of our Linux-based products by managing, planning, and coordinating product releases. In addition, you will actively engage in the development of our embedded Linux distributions, ensuring that each release is stable, efficient, and meets the defined quality standards.

Your Tasks

  • Take responsibility for the release process from initial scoping and configuration management to final delivery 
  • Act as the key player in our build infrastructure assisting the whole team during the development of applications for mobile machinery
  • Keep close relationship with project manager, development teams, IT and DevOps teams
  • Configure, maintain, and further improve our Yocto environment, Jenkins pipelines and CI/CD tools
  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux distributions for ARM-based hardware platforms  
  • Continuously plan updates to system components such as boot loader, Linux kernel, device drivers, system libraries and utilities
  • Share knowledge and experience with our young and dynamic team

Your Profile

  • Technical degree in Computer Science or a related field  
  • Experience with embedded Linux platforms
  • Significant expertise in C programming language complemented by strong Python skills and deep understanding of
  • Linux, including system administration and shell scripting
  • Experience with tools like GNU toolchain, Yocto Project, Git, Jenkins and bug-tracking tools like Jira  
  • Active participation in open-source communities and familiarity with contemporary trends in technology 
  • While knowledge in all these areas is beneficial, we do not expect applicants to be experts in every single area. A passion for learning, a curious mind, and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts is more valuable to us
  • Proactive, motivated and committed team player with an independent and precise style of working
  • Very good command of English, command of German is a plus

We provide an attractive and performance-based salary, which is based on your qualifications and professional experience. This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in the Metal Trade ("Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Metallgewerbe") and we offer a minimum salary of € 51,000 gross per year. Actual compensation can be well above this standard.
